What the official figures mean for fitting a pet flap. Figures are for the North Devon parliamentary constituency (2024 boundaries), which includes the town and nearby areas. These are area-wide figures, so your own home may be quite different. We'll always look at your actual door, glass or wall.
39.5%
of homes are detached houses
England average: 22.9%
Almost four in ten homes in the constituency are detached, well above average.
Town and estates
Older homes near the centre have solid walls, while newer estates have cavity walls that suit a wall flap.
Coast and countryside
Coastal homes from Croyde to Ilfracombe face strong westerly winds, so a well-sealed, corrosion-resistant flap is worth choosing.
