About 23% of homes have been built since 2000, above average. Composite doors and cavity walls are common.
Ironstone villages
Older cottages in many Northamptonshire villages are built from thick local ironstone or limestone. A wall flap there needs an extended tunnel, so a door installation is often simpler. Many of these villages are conservation areas with listed buildings.
Towns and new estates
Northampton, Kettering, Corby and Wellingborough have Victorian terraces near their centres and large modern estates around them. Corby grew rapidly as a post-war new town. Modern homes usually suit a flap in a uPVC or composite door, or through a cavity wall.
